MONTREAL, help planning a trip!?

I'm thinking of going from Toronto to Montreal with my family (4 at a time, 2 adults, 2 children) When I recommend we stay? As in what area, the Old Port, downtown, town, etc. We are a family of 4 and so, where is a good hotel to stay which is preferably close to shopping and attractions? Where is the best known parts of Montreal? As in museums, monuments, shopping centers, etc? We are thinking of going on holiday gear for March 7-15 ISH .. All events are planned for then? Willing to give up points for an answer that really helps! All help is greatly appreciated!

You could stay at the Holiday Inn on Sherbrooke Street West, or the Delta Montreal on President Kennedy. Both are located in the center of the city. Old Montreal has some hotels and would be quite expensive., But it is a pleasant walk from downtown. The people tend to have guest houses and some of B'n'B. You can also search the rental of an apart-hotel. Check-Montreal Tourism for accommodation good. Things to do: Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum Contemporary Arts Museum, McCord, City Underground (all these are at the center), the Parc Jean-Drapeau, IMAX, Museum of Science (the latter two are in Port Old). Once more, visit Tourism-Montreal for more ideas, and be able to give information about the rupture of March. Hope this helps a little! Enjoy Montreal!
