Montreal – has lots of culture

If you are interested in experiencing a bit of European culture, but do not want to fly across the ocean then Montreal is the place for you. Located in eastern Canada, Montreal is only 1 hour from New York / U.S. border. This is a short flight from most cities North American aircraft. The train is also an option, all trains arrive at the "Buenaventura" main railway station in Montreal, which is located in the center of the city.

Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and one of the largest cities in North America. Its population is about 4 million people. Over 50% of the population speaks French (official language of Quebec), while about 20% speak English. If you do not speak French will continue have no problem as most people in Montreal are bilingual and switching to English.

Montreal's climate is hot in summer and cold in the winter. If you plan on doing a lot to explore outside, then it is advisable to visit during the summer. Winter can be fun as Downtown Montreal has many shopping centers and subway stations that are connected by underground tunnels. During the winter you can go shopping all day for different parts of the city without having to set foot in the cold. Winter brings cold winds and a good bit of snow. It is not uncommon to see people digging their cars in the morning after a snowy night.

Montreal is famous for its street festivals. Most occur during the summer, but you can still find some to visit in the winter. Two of the most popular festivals are the Montreal World Film Festival and Just For Laughs.

There are many sights to see in Montreal, you can spend a month here without seeing everything. Mont Royal Park is one of the biggest parks in Montreal, is the center at the top of Peel Street. There is a long trail to the summit, on a hot summer day may seem like a good ride, but ultimately the point of view is worthwhile. Montreal architecture is very unique, walking through the old city (Old Montreal) is easy to forget that you are in North America not Europe. Very close to Old Montreal is the financial district with many modern skyscrapers. Notre-Dame Basilica or French Basilica of Notre-Dame de Montreal is located in Old Montreal. Gothic architecture of the church makes it one of the most unique churches the world.

Montreal Getting around is easy because of its large underground and bus network. The Metro runs on a grid with two parallel lines through the center. Each station has been decorated by a different artist, so riding the subway may seem like a visit to an art gallery. The Metro does not operate 24 hours, but after each line closes a network of night buses began to operate with stops at each subway station. If you want to visit somewhere in the outskirts of the city is also a network of trains.

Radical Gestures: Feminism And Performance Art in North America

$94.97

Performance art was finally recognized as an art form in its own right in the 1970s. In “Radical Gestures”, Jayne Wark situates feminist performance art in the US and Canada in the social context of the feminist movement and avant-garde art from the 1970s to 2000.
