Shopping Mall Kauai

Where to stay in Kauai?
I am the planner, so I get to stop the investigation into a place that never has been, as my husband give me your list of specifications. Here he says, should be facing the sea, must be the lowest floor, must have a sliding door leading to the beach so you do not have to use the door (uh huh), you must have Internet access for your laptop, DVD players, plasma TVs, not crowded, but must have activities within walking distance, such as parasailing, diving, etc, should have a good restaurant on the property or walk, and a city near the main shops is a must, as pharmacy, Starbucks (must have), electronic stores (just in case), bookstores, malls, do not know. Therefore, the taste of champagne on a beer budget what I'm looking for. I do not care if an apartment or hotel. I'll figure that out later and find a place to buy food, if I need it. The important thing is ground floor in the sand nearby and shopping activities.
At first I was thinking at the Hyatt and the Sheraton in Poipu (ground floor, sliding glass doors to the beach, etc.). Poipu Kiahuna Plantation is a condominium complex that the facilities too. But then I read that you need to be near a city with great stores. LOL! You never has obviously been to Kauai, right? If you want "department store", go to Oahu or Maui. Simply do not have 'em here. We have a shopping center in Lihue you have plenty of Sears and Macy's and a smaller store, but that's all, and are 20 minutes drive from Poipu. Hanalei, as some have suggested, is even further away (about 45-60 minutes from Lihue). Lihue is our county seat and largest city of Kauai, but it is not "big" for standards the continent. NOTHING in Poipu is within walking distance. Bring your books with you. We have borders and even a Wal * Mart and K-Mart, but why buy such things here? Starbucks coffee is horrible compared to beans grown on the island … go to one of the local office or coffee houses as Java Kai if you want something good, fresh, locally grown coffee. A lot of good diving on the island. Paragliding is illegal in Kauai. You can kitesurf here though.
