What is a professional digital SLR camera for portrait photography decent intro?

I'm an amateur photographer trying to get a business started. I have Adobe Photoshop 7, a set of strobe lights with umbrellas, a backdrop of a few, and some accessories, so Im shooting with a Nikon D40x, 10.2 MP. A friend of mine who was a professional photographer for many years continues to press to get the D200, but I can not afford yet. Is the set until now I have to start?

Wow, there is absolutely no reason to get the D200 right off the bat. The D40X and D200 are almost the same exact sensor, and unless the need for 5 fps the D200, which really is not much. The biggest potential limitation is the type of lenses that the D40 is acceptable to maintain autofocus and measurement with the AF-S and AF-I, but the type G and D will not support autofocus on the D40X, so that factors in planning for the future.
